Silicon Valley–Style Data Science Learning

Learn data science through Growing IQ, a program widely recognized by families in the San Francisco Bay Area for its strong educational approach. Students strengthen critical thinking skills while building confidence and a growth mindset.

Unique Learning Experiences

Beyond the classroom, students participate in company visits, field studies, and volunteer activities. These educational experiences go far beyond typical sightseeing and allow students to discover a new side of Japan.

What’s Growing IQ?

Mathematical Thinking as a Foundation for Modern Careers

At Growing IQ, we believe mathematics is more than working with numbers. It is the foundation of flexible, multi-dimensional thinking that supports creativity and innovation. By exploring ideas, making connections, and comparing different strategies, students develop strong thinking habits that set them apart in school and beyond.

As the world changes rapidly, success in college and future careers increasingly depends on critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. These abilities lie at the core of modern fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Quantitative Finance, and Biotechnology, making mathematical thinking an essential foundation for the next generation.

Our programs and camps strengthen mathematical understanding and confidence. Students learn that success isn’t defined by grades or memorization alone it comes from the ability toreason, communicate ideas, and apply thinking to real-world choices.

Program Director Eric provides an overview of Growing IQ’s data science program.

Why Data Science Camp in Japan?

Japan offers a unique educational environment where data science is applied to real societal challenges such as disaster preparedness, demographic change, and urban system management. Students learn how data-driven approaches support public safety and community decision-making through ongoing, real-world practices—not abstract theory.

Program & Schedule

Students learn to analyze information, communicate clearly, collaborate with peers, and build the confidence to lead skills they’ll carry into school, life, and future careers.

Our advanced camps let teens practice real decision-making whether that’s running a mock business or acting as a sports GM using real data. They learn to think, speak, lead, and solve problems not just memorize.

  • Hands-on projects that mix math, logic, and real-world thinking.
  • Business and sports simulations where data drives decisions.
  • Short leadership and communication sessions that build confidence.
  • Guest activities that connect numbers to everyday life – money, strategy, and teamwork.

Testimonials

What our students and parents have to say.

“Through this experience, I learned why studying matters, what kind of future I want for myself, and how I should work toward my goals. I was also able to think deeply, in my own way, about current issues being discussed by politicians, including how society can coexist with AI.”

“This camp was so fun that I honestly felt like I could stay for a whole year. The weather was great, the food was good, and there was always something to do, so I was never bored..”

“I feel that I developed the ability to make predictions based on available information and to think about the future. I especially enjoyed the class where we simulated business decisions using a boba truck model. Managing profits and losses and trying to stay right on the edge between success and failure was challenging and exciting.”

“What impressed us most was that our child experienced, through hands-on activities, the importance of thinking independently, forming hypotheses, discussing ideas with peers, and expressing opinions rather than focusing on right or wrong answers. They also began to talk more concretely about their future path. We saw remarkable growth in just two weeks, and we are truly grateful for this invaluable experience.”

“At first, we were both interested and concerned by the idea of a program focused on developing a “scientific way of thinking,” wondering whether the academic content might be too difficult. However, thanks to the dedicated teachers and fellow students, our son was able to spend a highly fulfilling time that would not have been possible in our home country. This experience has given our son great confidence and will continue to inspire them to move forward in the future.”

“Unlike traditional classes focused on memorization and test scores, this program encouraged students to share their own ideas and engage in open discussions. This learning style suited our son very well, and he has said many times that he wants to join again.
The experience will be valuable not only for his future studies and entrance exams, but also for his personal growth through exposure to new perspectives and values.”
