いよいよ最終日、11日目のスタートです。
今日もサンフランシスコ・ベイエリアのイーストベイは、抜けるような青空の良いお天気に恵まれました。今日は最後の仕上げをして、全員が一人ずつプレゼンテーションを行います。
【最終プレゼンテーションに向けて】
朝の出発前にも、みんな熱心にプレゼンテーションの準備をしていました。実はこの発表の練習のため（そして毎日恒例の大富豪のため…笑）、昨夜かなり遅くまで準備をしていた子もおり、全員少し寝不足気味でした。それでも、最後までやり切ろうという気持ちが伝わってきました。
【一人ひとりのプレゼンテーション】
時間をかけて準備をしただけあって、それぞれのプレゼンテーションはとても興味深く、しっかりと作り込まれたものになっていました。各自が選んだテーマについて、データを用いて洞察を加え、何らかの課題を解決するビジネスを考えて紹介するという内容です。
売り上げやコストまで具体的に考えている生徒もいて、商品やサービス、アプリ、AIを活用したものなど、オリジナリティあふれるビジネスのアイデアがたくさん出てきました。
データサイエンスの授業で学んできたグラフの考察もしっかりとでき、この11日間の成果がはっきりと見える発表になっていました。
【修了証書の授与】
プレゼンテーションの後は、一人ひとりに修了証書を手渡しました。この11日間、データサイエンスのクラスで様々なデータの読み解き方を学び、シリコンバレーの企業を訪れ、英語で仲間と協力してきた成果が、この一枚に詰まっています。誇らしげな表情がとても印象的でした。
【ディナーパーティーとお別れ】
そしてディナーパーティーです。美味しい中華料理を味わいながらおしゃべりを楽しみ、プレゼント交換も行いました。
ローカルの子たちが帰る時には、みんなでお見送りをしました。この短期間しか一緒にいなかったとは思えないほど仲良くなり、「また会おうね！」と約束して、車が見えなくなるまでバイバイをしました。
【最後の夜】
その後も残ってくださったGrowing IQ代表のジョニーさん（みんなジョニーさんにもとっても懐いています）と、ジェンガ大会が始まりました。またもや真剣勝負で大いに盛り上がり、ジョニーさんご家族と、一緒に滞在していたローカル生のアレックスくんともお別れです。その後は、初日に上った丘からみんなで夜景を眺め、名残惜しい最後の夜を楽しみました。
【全プログラム終了、そして帰国へ】
これで全てのプログラムが終了となります。荷物をパッキングして、お部屋の掃除をして、明日の朝、このイーストベイを出発します。最後まで元気に、安全に、帰国の途につきます。
最後に、寮のお部屋の様子をお届けします（女子部屋は追って追加いたします）。

プレゼンテーションの準備で寝不足気味の子もいましたが、体調を崩す子はおらず、全員が最後まで元気に、そして笑顔でプログラムを終えることができました。国も学校も違う仲間と深く打ち解け、データで課題を考え抜いてビジネスを提案する。この11日間で、お子さまたちは確かに大きく成長したと感じます。
明日はいよいよ帰国日です。無事に日本へお子さまをお届けできるよう、最後まで安全に努めてまいります。11日間、温かく見守ってくださった保護者の皆さま、本当にありがとうございました。

A. GIQのクラスでデータの読み解き方や課題解決の考え方を学び、シリコンバレーの企業や大学に触れる体験ができます。加えて、国や学校の異なる仲間と英語で協力しながら過ごすことで、自立心やコミュニケーション力も育まれます。最終日のプレゼンテーションは、その学びの集大成となります。
GIQ Silicon Valley Summer Camp – Day 11
At last, the final day has arrived. Once again the East Bay in Hayward, part of the San Francisco Bay Area, greeted us with beautiful clear skies. Today the students put the finishing touches on their work and each gave an individual presentation.
Preparing for the Final Presentations
Even in the shared dormitory space before departure this morning, the students were busy preparing their presentations. Some had stayed up quite late the night before, working on their slides (and, as always, enjoying a round of the card game Daifugo), so everyone was a little short on sleep. Still, their determination to finish strong was clear.
Each Student’s Presentation
Thanks to all their careful preparation, each presentation was genuinely engaging and well constructed. For a topic of their own choosing, the students used data to add insight and proposed a business idea that solved a particular problem. Some even worked out sales figures and costs, and there were many highly original ideas involving products, services, apps, and AI. The graph analysis they had learned in their data science classes was applied well, making the results of these eleven days clearly visible.
Certificates of Completion
After the presentations, each student received a certificate of completion. This single document represents everything they achieved over these eleven days: learning to interpret data in the GIQ classes, visiting Silicon Valley companies, and cooperating with friends in English. Their proud expressions were truly memorable.
Dinner Party and Farewells
Then came the dinner party. Enjoying delicious Chinese food, the students chatted together and exchanged gifts. When the local students headed home, everyone saw them off. In such a short time they had grown remarkably close, promising one another, “Let’s meet again!” and waving until the cars disappeared from sight.
The Last Night
Afterward, a Jenga tournament began with Johnny, the head of Growing IQ, who stayed with us to the end (the students are very fond of him too). Once again it turned into a spirited contest, and we then said goodbye to Johnny’s family and to Alex, the local student who had stayed with us. To close the evening, everyone climbed the hill we first visited on day one and took in the night view, savoring a last, bittersweet night together.
Program Complete, and Homeward Bound
With this, the entire program comes to an end. The students packed their bags, cleaned their rooms, and will depart the East Bay tomorrow morning. They will make the journey home safely and in good spirits right to the end.
Although a few students were a little short on sleep from preparing their presentations, no one fell ill, and everyone finished the program with energy and smiles. Bonding deeply with friends from different countries and schools, and thinking through problems with data to propose a business, we truly feel the students have grown a great deal over these eleven days. Tomorrow is departure day, and we will do our utmost to bring your children safely back to Japan. Thank you so much for warmly watching over them throughout these eleven days.
