12日間のプログラムを経て、2026年 Growing IQ シリコンバレーサマーキャンプが無事に終了いたしました。
7月20日に羽田空港を出発し、サンフランシスコ空港に降り立ったのが、まるでずっと前のことのように感じられます。
それほど毎日たくさんの体験や出会い、学びがあり、一日一日を振り返ると非常に濃密な日々でした。
初日、初めて出会ったとは思えないほどすぐに打ち解けていた生徒たち。
これから毎日一緒に過ごす中で人間関係にも変化があるのかな？と思っておりましたが、このチームは常に一体感があり、互いを思いやりながら、最後まで全員でまとまって仲良く過ごすことができました。
現地で加わったローカルの生徒たちとも、変わらずみんなでカードゲームなどを楽しんでいました。
一人ひとりがとても個性的で、自分のカラーを出しつつも互いを尊重し合って過ごす姿は本当に誇らしく、このチームワークの良さがシリコンバレーでの体験をさらに充実した思い出深いものにしてくれたのだと感じています。
このサマーキャンプが目指しているものは、“Think Outside the Box”（既成概念にとらわれない思考）です。
決められた枠の中だけで考えるのではなく、枠を超えて思考と世界を広げ、多角的で柔軟な考え方ができるようになること。
12日間という短い期間で簡単に身につくものではありませんが、データサイエンスの実践的な授業やシリコンバレーの最新技術、そして素晴らしいゲストスピーカーの方々の価値観に触れたことで、参加した生徒たちにとって「枠を超えるきっかけ」を作ることができたのではないかと思います。
キャンプの途中、生徒たちからこんな嬉しい言葉を聞くことができました。
「この一週間は人生で最高の一週間だ」
「もっとこのキャンプを続けたい」
「次は他の場所でGIQ（データサイエンス）の続きがやりたい」
「スタンフォード大学に行くという夢ができた」
学ぶ時間が多いプログラムのため、単に「楽しい体験」ばかりではなかったはずです。それでも、英語でデータ分析を行ったり議論したりする時間そのものを「楽しい」と感じてくれたのだと思います。
控えめだったけれど、自ら手を挙げて発言できるようになった子、
英語に苦戦しながらも、なんとか自分の意見を伝えようと頑張った子、
苦手なこともありつつ、途中から人が変わったように存在感を発揮した子、
持ち前のコミュニケーション力で、周囲に大きな刺激を与えてくれた子、
夜のジェンガ大会で奇跡を見せてくれた子（笑）
みんながそれぞれ良い刺激を与え合い、大きく成長してくれました。
最後の夜、初日に夕陽を見るために登った丘へもう一度向かい、キラキラと輝くサンフランシスコ・ベイエリアの夜景を眺めに行きました。
初日よりも自然と肩を寄せ合う子どもたちの姿や、このメンバーで過ごす最後の時間を噛みしめている様子を見て、スタッフ一同も「まだ終わりたくないな……」と切ない気持ちになりました。
12歳から16歳という感性が柔軟な時期だからこそできる吸収力の高さが本当に羨ましく、みんなの未来がより一層楽しみになりました。
子どもたちの人生はまだまだこれからですが、この12日間の経験が彼らの将来に少しでも良い影響を与えられていたら、これ以上に嬉しいことはありません。
保護者の皆様におかれましては、渡航前からキャンプ期間中まで、ご心配な点も多々あったかと存じますが、最後まで温かく見守ってくださり心より感謝申し上げます。

GIQ Silicon Valley Summer Camp Has Successfully Concluded!
Hello everyone!
After 12 incredible days, the 2026 Growing IQ Silicon Valley Summer Camp has officially come to an end.
Looking back, leaving Haneda Airport on July 20th and landing at San Francisco International Airport feels like a lifetime ago. Each day was so packed with new experiences, meaningful encounters, and deep learning that every single day felt truly rich and memorable.
On the very first day, the students hit it off so quickly that it was hard to believe they had just met. We initially wondered if their dynamic might shift over time, but this team maintained a strong sense of unity from start to finish—always caring for one another and staying close as a group. When local students joined us during the camp, our group welcomed them with open arms, and everyone enjoyed playing card games together. Each student had a unique personality, yet they all showcased their own strengths while showing deep mutual respect. We are incredibly proud of them, and this wonderful teamwork made their Silicon Valley experience even more rewarding and unforgettable.
The core philosophy of this summer camp is “Think Outside the Box.” It means stepping beyond defined boundaries to expand one’s thinking and worldview, fostering flexible, multi-angled perspectives. While this isn’t something that can be fully mastered in a short 12-day period, we believe that hands-on data science lessons, exposure to cutting-edge technology in Silicon Valley, and inspiring insights from our guest speakers gave the students a strong spark to start thinking outside the box.
Throughout the camp, we were touched to hear the students share comments like:
- “This has been the best week of my life!”
- “I don’t want this camp to end.”
- “I want to keep studying GIQ (Data Science) somewhere else next!”
- “My new dream is to go to Stanford University!”
Since this camp focuses heavily on learning, it wasn’t just about “fun and games” every day. Yet, they genuinely enjoyed analyzing data in English and engaging in thoughtful discussions together.
- The quiet student who gained the confidence to raise their hand and speak up
- The student who struggled with English but poured their heart into communicating their ideas
- The student who overcame their initial hesitation and stepped up with great presence
- The student whose natural communication skills inspired everyone around them
- The student who pulled off a miracle during our late-night Jenga game! (Smile)
They all inspired each other and grew immensely throughout this journey.
On our final night, we went back up the hill we had climbed on day one to watch the sunset, this time taking in the sparkling night view of the San Francisco Bay Area. Seeing the students standing closer than ever, quietly soaking in their final moments together, filled our team with a bittersweet feeling: “We don’t want this to end either…”
Seeing how much they could absorb with their flexible mindsets—a privilege unique to their ages of 12 to 16—was truly inspiring, and it made us so excited for their futures. Their journeys are just beginning, and we would be more than happy if these 12 days leave a positive, lasting impact on their lives.
To all the parents and guardians: We understand you may have had worries both before departure and during the camp. We sincerely thank you for your warm support and trust throughout the program.
