Hello everyone!
My name is Mia and I am one of the university student staff members for this year’s Kizuna Camp here at UCSD. I am accompanied by Kana, Matthew, Hosana, Yuri, and Justin who are all university students living with the Kizuna campers and helping out with their English learning journey! Most of us understand and speak a little Japanese, but we will be using English to encourage the students to develop their English skills. Kizuna Camp will also have some American high school and other university students to support our English lessons who we will be meeting tomorrow!
The students arrived at North America Hall today, a little late due to traffic and tired, but ready to practice English! To get to know each other, we went around and introduced ourselves to each other along with our camp orientation and rules in English, then quickly set off to get some dinner!
At the busy college cafeteria called Cafe Ventanas, students ate Chinese noodles and rolls, salads, and my favorite, Nachos!
After dinner, we made the trek down to the on-campus Target to visit an American supermarket for the first time while making some conversation in English on the way. Though tired from the long flight and drive, the students had enough energy to stock up on some American snacks!
After a tiring first day, we’re tucking in for the night to be ready to meet the American students and practice a lot of English tomorrow while venturing around San Diego!

こんにちは！
私はキズナキャンプの大学生スタッフのMiaです。私のほかには、カナ、マシュー、ホサナ、ユリ、ジャスティンがいます。私たちはみんな大学生で、キズナキャンプの参加者と一緒に生活しながらサポートしています！
私たちは日本語を少し話すことができますが、生徒たちの英語力を伸ばすためにも、英語で話すようにしています。明日からはアメリカの高校生や大学生もクラスをサポートしに来てくれます。
今日は、渋滞のため少し遅れてノースアメリカホール（学生寮）に到着し、皆さん少し疲れた様子でしたが、英語を練習する準備はできていました。キャンプのオリエンテーションやルール説明をしたり、自己紹介をして回り、その後夕食を食べに行きました。
カフェ・ベンタナスという大学のカフェテリアで、生徒たちは中華ヌードルやロールパン、サラダ、そして私の大好きなナチョスを食べました！
夕食後は、キャンパス内のスーパーマーケット「ターゲット」まで英語で会話しながら歩いて行きました。長時間のフライトとドライブで疲れてはいましたが、アメリカのスナックを買い込む力は十分にありました！
明日はアメリカ人生徒たちと出会い、サンディエゴを散策する予定です！
