Hello everyone and Happy Monday! We made it one full week at Kizuna Camp and we still have so many fun things left.
After our busy weekend, students were very tired during English class. They reviewed conversation skills and using American money, which will be useful for the future events! They also went over their group presentations and reviewed vocabulary. I hope tomorrow the students will be more interactive in their English class~
After we ate lunch at 64 Degrees, we went to a Japanese supermarket located in San Diego. The most popular aisle was the candy aisle, as usual! Students also had the chance to grab some Japanese snacks they have missed.
After showing the American students popular Japanese snacks, it was the American student’s turn to teach Japanese students about popular items in America. We walked over to the American supermarket, Target. I couldn’t resist and even I was able to go shopping! It was a nice way for students to learn about popular goods in America and who doesn’t love shopping 🙂
And for our main event, we all went to Karaoke. It was a great blend of American songs, Japanese songs, and even some K-Pop songs. We had one big room, so everyone was able to sing the songs they liked. I even heard the boys sing a ballad. Beautiful voices filled the room 🙂
All that singing made us hungry for dinner! Tonight there was BBQ steak on the menu with baked beans and more!
For our night activity, we played two English games to practice speaking (and also spelling) The first game is called “Charades.” In this game, students had to gesture English words and phrases until their team could guess the phrase. It was challenging at first, but Ben was really great at helping students come up with gestures.
After Charades, we played multiple rounds of “Stop the Music.” Students had to come up with English words starting with the same vowel for 5 different categories. For example, students used the letter “c” to come up with 1) Cat, 2) Carrot, 3) Crab, 4) Camisole, 5) crying. Students loved this game so much we played almost 6 rounds!
We also celebrated Sho’s birthday today! Happy Birthday Sho 🙂
Overall, today was difficult in the morning because of our busy weekend. Once students warmed up, they were able to speak more with the American students. And the night activity was a great chance for students to work together as a team and practice English!
Tomorrow, we will visit the Beautiful Balboa Park!

まる1週間が経ちましたが、まだまだ楽しいことがいっぱいです！
忙しい週末の後の英語クラスで、生徒たちはお疲れ気味です…。アクティビティの準備として、会話スキルとお金の使い方の復習をしました。
また、グループプレゼンテーションの下調べや、ボキャブラリーの練習をしました。明日はもっと活発な授業になることを願っています！
ランチの後は日本食スーパーマーケットに行きました。一番人気はもちろん、お菓子コーナーです。恋しかった日本のお菓子をゲットしていました。
日本で人気のお菓子を紹介してもらった後は、アメリカ人生徒たちがアメリカで人気のものを日本人生徒たちに紹介する番です。アメリカのスーパー「ターゲット」へ移り、引き続きショッピングを楽しみます。私もたまらずお買い物をしてしまいました！スーパーでの買い物は、アメリカで人気があるグッズについて学ぶ良い機会でした。
そして今日のメインイベントはカラオケです。アメリカ、日本、そして韓国のポップスが入り乱れていました。ひとつの大きな部屋で思い思いの歌を歌いました。男の子たちもバラードを歌っていたり、美しい歌声が響いていましたよ。
歌を歌った後はおなかが空いてきます！今日のディナーはバーベキューステーキやベークドビーンズなどがありました。
ナイトアクティビティでは、スピーキングとスペリングが練習できる、二つの英語ゲームを行いました。ひとつめのゲームは「シャレード」という、ジェスチャーゲームです。最初は難しかったので、Benがジェスチャーの手助けをしました。
二つ目は「ストップザミュージック」という同じ文字から始まる単語を5つのカテゴリーで挙げていくゲームです。みんなこのゲームが気に入ったようで、6ラウンドも競いました！
そして今日は、ショウくんのお誕生日もお祝いしました。Happy Birthday Sho！
全体的に、午前中は週末が忙しかったおかげでペースが上がりませんでしたが、段々調子が上がってきて、しっかりと交流できていました。ナイトアクティビティでは生徒たちがチームワークを発揮し、そして英語の練習もできたので良かったです。
明日は美しいバルボアパークへ行きます！
