Hello everyone! Today we went to some of the most popular tourist locations in San Diego!! We had 6 American students joining us today, so there were a lot of great English conversations today.
For our first destination, we visited Old Town. Old Town was the first permanent settlement in California back in 1769. It really is an “old town.” Students divided into groups and worked on a scavenger hunt for their English Class. There are some amazing sites at Old Town!
After the scavenger hunt, we all had free time to explore Old Town. Most students decided to eat at Cold Stone Ice Cream to help cool off from the heat! Students ordered in English and paid with American money, so it was also a great learning experience 🙂
Then, we headed over to watch the Padres baseball game! Today was a hot day, but we were able to see the game clearly. Unfortunately, the Padres lost to the Pirates (7-1), but we still had a good time at Petco Park 🙂
The baseball game was so hot, so we were all happy to visit Seaport Village! Because it is at the harbor, the wind felt great! Even though it was hot, it was such a beautiful day today with no clouds. It is the best weather for sightseeing in San Diego (and getting a nice tan!)
For our night activity, we had a volleyball tournament! Students did a great job, but tonight’s winner was Team Chocolate. Who will win tomorrow night’s English Games?
Students also decided their groups and topic for a cultural presentation. Our topics include homes, music, greetings, food, and school life. I am excited to see what they learn from the American students next week!
Today was another long day, but it is amazing to see how much everyone has changed in only 6 days!! One student told me “I am so excited for tomorrow, but I also don’t want the camp to be over!” I was very impressed by how everyone is trying their best in English! They all have such a great attitude, so Ben and I are excited for this next week too!
Tomorrow is back to English class, but I have a feeling they will be more talkative during class 🙂

こんにちは！
今日はサンディエゴの観光地でも一番人気の場所に行きました。6人のアメリカ人高校生も参加して、たくさん英語を話しました！
最初はオールドタウンに行きました。オールドタウンは、1769年にカリフォルニアの中で一番最初に開拓民が住み着いた土地です。生徒たちはグループに分かれて英語学習のためのスカベンジャーハントをしました。
その後自由にオールドタウンを散策しました。ほとんどの生徒はコールドストーンアイスクリームを食べて暑さをしのいでいました。英語で注文してアメリカのお金で支払いをし、実体験の中での英語学習です。
そしてサンディエゴパドレスの野球観戦へ行きました。残念ながらパドレスは7対1で負けてしまいましたが、球場のペトコパークで楽しい時間を過ごしました。
球場がとても暑かったので、シーワールドで海の風を感じて涼むことができました！暑かったのですが、雲のないとても美しい日でした。サンディエゴ観光（と日焼け）には最高の気候でした。
ナイトアクティビティではバレーボールトーナメントを行いました。皆全力を出しましたが、今夜の勝者は「チームチョコレート」でした。明日の英語ゲームではどのチームが勝つでしょうか？
また、プレゼンテーションのためのグループと題材を話し合い、題材は、家、音楽、挨拶、フード、スクールライフに決定しました。来週はプレゼンテーションのためにアメリカ人生徒たちからどのようなことを学んでくれるのか楽しみです。
またとても長い一日でしたが、この6日間で生徒たちが変わっていった様子にとても感心しています。一人の生徒は「明日がとても楽しみだけど、キャンプが終わってほしくない！」と英語で私に話していましたよ。
皆が本当にがんばって英語で伝えようとしている様子にとても感動しています。皆さんとても良い姿勢で参加していて、私もBenも後半の1週間をとても楽しみにしています。
明日は英語クラスに戻りますが、先週よりもっと積極的に参加してくれそうです^^
